July 3, Atlanta beat Napoli in the Italian Serie A last night to strengthen their lead in the top four and increase their chances of playing in the Champions League next season.
Fourth-placed Atlanta beat sixth-placed Napoli 2-0 with two goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half.
Mario Palasic scored in the 47th minute to give Atlanta the lead. Rovin Gossen scored the second goal for Atlanta in the 55th minute.After the win, Atlanta has a 12-point lead over fifth-placed Roma. Atlanta also benefited from a 2-0 defeat to Roma Udinese in the next game.
Atlanta is in fourth place with 60 points from 29 games. Roma has 48 points from the same game. Napoli, which has 45 points after the defeat, is still in the sixth position.
